Partnership with Parents & Carers

Partnership working is central to the Portage approach and one of the key Portage Principles. Partnership with parents is the keystone of the Portage Model and underpins all Portage practice.

Portage practitioners often act as a key worker or lead professional, helping you coordinate support from different services and making sure plans and decisions always focus on your child and family’s needs.

They also work with the wider family network, where appropriate, to share guidance, offer reassurance, and keep everyone involved informed so family members feel confident in supporting the child’s progress.

Within each Portage team, practitioners support one another through regular supervision with managers and ongoing peer support.
